What is Merit Badge Adventure Camp?

Merit Badge Adventure Camp is a weekend program at Gorham Scout Ranch. Scouts arrive on Friday evening, take a merit badge class or adventure activity on all day Saturday, and go home on Sunday morning (or Saturday night). Meals are provided in the Lodge prepared by the camp’s kitchen crew. Troops sleep in canvas tents at our campsites. These amenities are time savers for Troops looking to maximize on merit badge coursework or activity time.

Schedule (merit badges are taught on Saturday – one merit badge per Scout):?

  • Sept. 6-8: Cooking, Wilderness Survival, First Aid, Search & Rescue, Leatherwork & ATV
  • Sept 13-15: Cooking, Wilderness Survival, First Aid, Search & Rescue, Leatherwork & ATV
  • Sept 20-22: Archery, Rifle, Shotgun, First Aid, Environmental Science, & ATV
  • Oct. 11-13: Astronomy, Space Exploration, Emergency Preparedness, First Aid, Climbing & ATV
  • Oct. 18-20: Archery, Rifle, Shotgun, First Aid, Environmental Science, & ATV
  • Oct. 25-27: Astronomy, Space Exploration, Emergency Preparedness, First Aid, Climbing & ATV

Cost for Merit Badge Adventure Camp:

  • $60 for Scouts taking Merit Badges (except Shooting Sports)
  • $85 for Scouts taking Archery, Rifle, Shotgun, or ATV
  • $30 for adults

Notes:

  • ATV participants must be at least 14 years old
  • It is recommended that Climbing, Lifesaving and Shotgun participants be at least 13 years old
  • Classes will be taught by camp staff or qualified volunteer instructors
  • Registration is first come – first served, most Merit Badge classes will have a capacity of 12 participants per weekend. ATV capacity is 8 participants per weekend
