Opening Ceremony provided by Scouts and Leaders of the Great Southwest Council

Scouts and Leaders will be able to participate in the Opening Ceremony. Scouts and Leaders wishing to participate in the opening MUST:

  1. Be in uniform. (It may be COOL…wear sweaters sweatshirts under the uniform.)
  2. Have a UNITED STATES flag at least 2 feet by 3 feet in size and on a pole. (No small flags)
  3. A ticket to the game.
  4. Arrive at the Outdoor Practice Facility south of the football stadium by 10:45 AM…line-up for ceremony is at 11:15 AM

Flag Ceremony

Standard Procedures

 

When participating in Flag Ceremonies with the Great Southwest Council, the following standards shall apply:

 

  • All registered youth members shall carry a flag, on a pole that shall not be smaller than 2’ x 3’ in size.
  • Leaders are encouraged to carry a flag.  If they do not carry a flag, they will be expected to assist with escorting and positioning of the other participants as needed.
  • ALL participants on the field or court must wear their Field Uniform Only.  No Scouting activity T-shirts (Activity Uniforms) will be permitted.
  • Individuals not registered with BSA will not be permitted on the field or court.
  • Flags shall be United States and Unit Flags unless otherwise specified. 
  • Historical United States Flags are not permitted unless otherwise identified.
  • For outdoor activities, if temperatures are cool, sweaters or thermals must be worn under the uniform during the ceremony.
  • All participants must carry their event ticket to be allowed re-entry to the stadium or arena
  • It is the responsibility of the individual or unit to secure their flags in a safe location after the ceremony. The Council is not responsible for flags.

Additional event-specific requirements not covered in the procedures above may apply.
