Cub Scout Family Camp - May 27-29 and September 2-4: Weekend camping for Cub Scout families

Cub Scout Family Camp is a overnight event held at Gorham Scout Ranch. There are two Cub Scout Family Camp weekends in 2017: May 27-29 and September 2-4. Cub Scout Family Camp is open to all Cub Scouts and their families. This outing is designed with activities for Cub Scouts, their siblings (boys and girls), parents, and even grandparents.

This event is ideal for families with limited or no previous camping experience. Families will stay in canvas wall tents, which sleep 2—4 people. The tents sit on a wooden platform. There are vault toilets and running water in each campsite. There is a showerhouse located in a central area of the campground. All meals will be served in the dining hall, prepared by a professional kitchen staff. There is also a camp store stocked with basic camping supplies and snacks. Gorham Scout Ranch is an ideal location for a Cub Scout family’s first outdoor adventure.

The camping weekend begins at 11:00am on Saturday. Participants will start the outing checking into their campsite, then eating a hearty lunch in our dining hall. Following lunch, there is a variety of activities for your family to do, including: swimming at the pool, nature hikes, physical fitness games, archery, scavenger hunts, hikes, crafts, and more. Your family is also welcome to participate in unstructured free time, exploration of the campground, and fellowship with other families in your campsite. These activities will also be available on Sunday during scheduled times.

Saturday evening, following dinner, featured activities will include star-gazing, a night walk, and a movie (with popcorn).

There will be a “Scout’s Own” chapel service on Sunday morning. On Sunday evening, there will be a campfire program at the Council Ring. A crossover ceremony will be conducted for Cub Scouts, dens and packs to advance to the next age group (Tigers to Wolves, Wolves to Bears, Bears to Webelos). There will also be stories, skits, and songs performed at the campfire ceremony. After breakfast on Monday, families will pack up their gear, clean their campsite, make one more stop at the camp store, and then travel safely to home.

Cost for Cub Scout Family Camp is: $45 for Youth ages 5-17, $35 for Adults ages 18+, no fee for youth under the age of 5. Fee includes meals and program activities.
